Here's why I chose Pets Best to insure my dog

I was teeter-tottering between Pets Best, Lemonade, and Embrace to insure my dog. I signed up with Pets Best about a month ago and wanted to share my thought process/experience in case it helps others. I leaned heavily on this pet insurance comparison that @Kimberly Alt shared with me. Ultimately my Lemonade quote was the lowest but when I dove deeper I noticed that I'd need to tack on a bunch of add ons to have it be comparable to the Pets Best quote. The main things I'm concerned about for my dog are orthopedic issues and cancer. I know those can be pretty expensive. I decided that the unlimited plan from Pets Best would better protect me from these potential costs. I opted for an 80% reimbursement and a $500 deductible to make the plan fit my budget. I read that claims can take about a month to get reimbursed, which I'm not a fan of. But, I have a credit card that can help me get by if things get too expensive. I also like that Pets Best had better dental coverage than Lemonade. I love Embrace's coverage, but ultimately Pets Best won out because it was more affordable and didn't require an add on for prescriptions.

I am officially out of the waiting periods for illnesses, accidents, and hip dysplasia, which gives me so much peace of mind. Ligament injuries require 6 months of insurance before coverage kicks in. My dog is young and in good shape right now, so I'm hoping this isn't an issue for us. I feel good about my decision and appreciated the articles on this site so I wanted to share my experience in case it can help someone else.
